Barberama at Lichfield’s Guildhall

Our own show – a great success!

Though we have sung at dozens of concerts for fundraising organisations since the choir started in 2009, the first we have actually organised ourselves was in October 2017. This show, Barberama at Lichfield’s Guildhall was created to help us raise our profile in Lichfield and it was a great success. We also took the opportunity to raise funds for the Lichfield Pathway Project supporting those affected by domestic violence. We did this by holding a fantastic raffle which was extremely well supported by the packed audience.

We practised for months to ensure we could stage a tip-top performance and the reception we received made all the hours of work and practice worthwhile – everyone was elated and we all went home uplifted and happy. We were also delighted to be supported by our friends Clarinet Allsorts and local guitar group Don’t Fret, who both turned in great sets. We also gained a new member as a result of the show! Julie joined us a couple of weeks later and has fitted in so well.

Some of you may already know that one of our members Kathy also plays in Clarinet Allsorts, so the Guildhall show was a particular challenge for her, as she appeared in five of the six sets performed on the night, complete with two costume changes allocated just thirty seconds each!

Shows are important to us because they allow us to share our love of singing while helping to support good causes. To date, we have helped to raise thousands of pounds throughout the area and we continue to accept bookings for larger halls and events. Unfortunately, as we have grown so much in size, we now find it difficult to fit comfortably into smaller events or halls but we do try to accommodate as many appearance requests as we can.
