Tamworth's newest women's choir - a Barbershop chorus called Barberama is searching for women to put the doo-wop in its harmonic arrangements!
Created in January, the choir is already 20 strong and is helping charitable groups and other organisations across the region raise money for good causes, by singing at fundraising events.
Now though, it needs to swell its ranks in the middle voice range and is looking for more women keen to sing the much needed melody lines of its arrangements. Chorus Director Lyn Kesterton said, "The women who sing the middle range parts of our four voice barbershop-style arrangements often have the most fun as these are great lines to sing, with plenty of 'doo-wops' and 'oh baby's' to raise a smile.
"You don't have to be an excellent singer - you just need to be able to sing in tune and have lots of enthusiasm for singing a wide range of great songs and joining in. We already have an excellent group of women of all ages who have one thing in common - they all love to sing and have a good time doing it."
"We are delighted with the progress we have made so far and we are currently taking bookings from charities and other organisations who are trying to raise money for good causes. We sing at their events for free to help them fundraise, and we are always on the lookout for new members or possible appearances."
Barberama meets on Thursdays at Newton Regis Village Hall, between 7.30pm and 9.30pm. Anyone interested is invited to call 01827 830274, or to go along to a practice to find out more.
